Rado Captain Cook Review 2022

Rado Captain Cook is modern version of the Captain Cook that the company produced between 1962-68. It is a proper dive watch boasting 200m water resistance, making it a stellar diver watch under 2000 dollars.

Rado Captain Cook Review 2022

This also puts the Rado Captain Cook in direct competition with Longines Hydro Conquest and Tudor Black Bay, both of which are also crowd favorites when it comes to diver watches under $2000.

Case size of Rado Captain Cook is 42mm which is what is shown in this review. I prefer it over the much smaller 37mm Captain Cook which was the first iteration. It has date window at 3’o clock.

Rado is using 03.763.035 automatic movement that offers 80h power reserve which is best in industry, surpassing even diver watches from Rolex and Omega. It lets you manual winding as well – just unscrew the crown and turn it clockwise to manually wind the Rado Captain Cook.

Rado has produced a complete product with the Captain Cook – 42mm case; 200m water resistance, sub $2000 price tag; stellar looks; beautiful dial and 80h power reserve with support for manual winding. Its short lugs allow me to wear it like a smaller 40mm watch. It definitely feels very comfortable and I dig its amazing jubilee bracelet.

The case crystal is a sapphire one with anti-reflective coating. Around it, you will find a unidirectional ceramic bezel. Rado offers this bezel and dial in variety of colors – black, red, blue and green.

If you have a lot of expensive watches, and you are looking for a daily driver, Rado Captain Cook should be on top of your list. It checks all the boxes that make a diver watch a “great diver watch”.
